As long as I can remember, I have been a fan of the McDonalds Egg McMuffin and a Coke for breakfast. As I got older the Coke traded for a Diet Coke, but not much else has changed. To be honest a big reason I was such a McDonald’s fan was the filtration they used for the soda fountain. No matter where I was in the world, Balboa Blvd in Los Angeles or in Thailand, the soda tasted the same. I can’t say that about many other chain restaurants.
The other SoCal favorite of mine is In-n-Out. Everything is fresh and good even though I have been eating at In-N-Out for over 35 years, I still like the food. Since In-n-Out doesn’t serve breakfast and I needed something new, I decided to give Subway a try. Subway just switched to a new soda machine with better filtered water so the soda tasted like it should.
I had seen the ad for breakfast at subway a week or so ago when I was going to get my mail. This morning I decided to give it a try and take a chance on something new.
Breakfast at Subway isn’t quite what you would expect. The ad shows the normal English muffin sandwich and a flat bread sandwich, nothing to make anyone get out of bed early. When I got there it was a whole different story. The entire board of cheese and veggie options was out and ready for breakfast.
I decided to go healthy, with an english muffin topped with egg whites and black forest ham. I continued with pepper jack cheese, and tomatoes with a little pepper on top. This was a good looking breakfast sandwich. Looking over at my creation, I couldn’t help but think that Subway had nailed it with breakfast.
After I filled my soda with my normal Diet Coke and a Splash of Barq’s, I eagerly opened the wrapper and started to eat. There it was, an English muffin made my way, not Ronald’s way.
