It is sort of geeky impressive to think that three or four car batteries will keep the lights on in a normal house and a little sun or wind can keep the batteries charged. California hasn’t increased it’s water needs in 15 years and the population has more than doubled. Can California do the same with electricity over the next 15 years?

As long as I can remember, I have been a fan of the McDonalds Egg McMuffin and a Coke for breakfast. As I got older the Coke traded for a Diet Coke, but not much else has changed. To be honest a big reason I was such a McDonald’s fan was the filtration they used for the soda fountain. No matter where I was in the world, Balboa Blvd in Los Angeles or in Thailand, the soda tasted the same. I can’t say that about many other chain restaurants.
The other SoCal favorite of mine is In-n-Out. Everything is fresh and good even though I have been eating at In-N-Out for over 35 years, I still like the food. Since In-n-Out doesn’t serve breakfast and I needed something new, I decided to give Subway a try. Subway just switched to a new soda machine with better filtered water so the soda tasted like it should.
I had seen the ad for breakfast at subway a week or so ago when I was going to get my mail. This morning I decided to give it a try and take a chance on something new.
Breakfast at Subway isn’t quite what you would expect. The ad shows the normal English muffin sandwich and a flat bread sandwich, nothing to make anyone get out of bed early. When I got there it was a whole different story. The entire board of cheese and veggie options was out and ready for breakfast.
I decided to go healthy, with an english muffin topped with egg whites and black forest ham. I continued with pepper jack cheese, and tomatoes with a little pepper on top. This was a good looking breakfast sandwich. Looking over at my creation, I couldn’t help but think that Subway had nailed it with breakfast.
After I filled my soda with my normal Diet Coke and a Splash of Barq’s, I eagerly opened the wrapper and started to eat. There it was, an English muffin made my way, not Ronald’s way.

The BMW 335d has 425 lb-ft of torque at 1,750 rpm. While this might not mean a lot to most people, the translation is simple. When you are merging on the freeway and the 18 wheeler isn’t even thinking about the brakes, all you need to do is give a little push on the gas pedal and the rig shrinks in the rear view mirror. That is what 425 lb-ft of torque is a car this light means. Just for comparison, that is more than a Corvette, Dodge Challenger SRT8 or the new BMW M3!

California is the place for great cars, and the Gran Prix of Long Beach was clearly a place to launch some great car news and see some great racing. The Gran Prix of Long Beach has had a storied and politically troubled history. Still off the F-1 hey day, the GP is picking up energy again and was a spectacle enjoyed by everyone in typical SoCal style.

The human mind works in funny ways. How many times have you struggled with a problem only to have it pop in your head while you were pumping gas or looking or chips in the cupboard? By getting the mind to so effectively focus on the track, you can actually free up the back of the mind to work out other problems.
