Pacific Airshow is back Friday, Oct. 2 through Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026 — organizers’ 10th anniversary year. Same beach, same ocean backdrop, same weekend when PCH turns into a parking puzzle and half of Southern California remembers why Surf City has the best show seats on the planet: look up, and there’s ocean behind the airplanes.
This is a Beach Street Life preview — practical, local, no brochure fluff. Confirm details closer to the weekend on the official sites (links at the end).
The basics: when and where
- Dates: Friday, Oct. 2 – Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026
- Gates: Open about 9 a.m. each day
- Flying: Roughly 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 or 4:30 p.m. — estimates, subject to change
- Show center: Over the ocean between Twin Dolphin Street and Beach Boulevard on Pacific Coast Highway
- Address often listed: 21101 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach
If you live here, you know the stretch. If you’re driving in: Show Center sits on the sand side of PCH across from the big oceanfront hotels. The ticketed precinct is the fenced festival zone on the beach. Everything else is still Huntington Beach — crowded, sunny if we’re lucky, and loud in the good way.

What’s flying (from the official performers page)
As of our check of pacificairshowusa.com/performers, the 2026 roster includes the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, USAF and USN F-35 demos, Navy Growler and F/A-18 West Coast Rhino demo teams, a NORAD interdiction demo, RAF Falcons, civilian aerobatic acts, flyovers (including NASA), heavy iron like C-17 and KC-135, the Goodyear Blimp, and more.
Military and civilian participation is always contingent on availability. Acts can change, and not every performer flies all three days. Official materials currently list Franky Zapata (Flyboard Air / AirScooter) as withdrawn. Treat the performers page as the living roster until the schedule of events is released. Free beach vs. tickets — the honest Surf City take
Do I need a ticket?
You can watch the flying for free from public stretches of Huntington City Beach outside the ticketed footprint. Visit Huntington Beach / Surf City USA confirms free viewing options exist alongside paid ones. You’ll see the airplanes and feel the noise. You will not get the live announcer feed — that stays inside the ticketed precinct — and you won’t get the head-on Show Center angle, Kids Zone, STEM lab, signing sessions, or the on-sand food and bars.
Tickets buy proximity, commentary, amenities, and a clearer “I’m at the event” day. Free sand buys the classic HB move: stake a spot early and accept a longer walk from parking. Neither choice is wrong. The wrong move is assuming “free” means empty sand in front of Show Center. It doesn’t. Surf City also notes public tunnels through ticketed areas so people can still reach the beachfront — handy for strand walkers, less so if you expected a front-row picnic on the Show Center berm.
Beach Street take: locals who just want sky time often use free sand or watch further up/down the coast. Families who want commentary and kids activities usually buy in. Check current ticket types and pricing only on the official tickets site — we’re not listing dollar amounts here because they move.
Parking and PCH reality
There is no dedicated Pacific Airshow parking lot. City parking is first-come, first-served. Pass holders are not magically exempt that weekend. Pier Plaza and Main Promenade fill early. If you live within bike or walk distance, do that. If you don’t, park inland and walk, or use rideshare with a drop a few blocks off PCH — not at the curb in front of the fence.
Surf City USA is running a free Bike Valet on The Strand during the weekend. Bring a lock anyway. Official FAQ language is blunt: expect delays, leave early, follow posted signs, and don’t end the day with a tow.
PCH will be slow. Side streets will be full of people who also thought they found a secret spot. Build cushion into your day. This is October in Huntington Beach with jets.
Family tips that actually matter
- Ear protection. Jets are loud. Organizers recommend earplugs or earmuffs, especially for little kids. Bring your own.
- Sun is the other jet. Shade is limited in GA / Show Center sand. Hats, sunscreen, water. Small personal umbrellas are allowed in some GA/SCZ areas (size limits); restricted in pier and hospitality zones. Tents and giant shade structures are out.
- Chairs: Welcome in GA and Show Center Zone on the sand; not in several premium/pier/hospitality areas where seating comes with the ticket.
- Cashless inside the precinct — card/phone ready for food and merch.
- Hydrate. Sealed water or reusable bottles with water; glass stays home.
- No drones. Enforced no-drone zone. Leave them home.
- Pets: Not allowed in the ticketed event (service animals excepted). Loud jets are rough on dogs even at home — plan ahead if you live near the flight path.
Kids’ ticket rules vary by age and zone; check the FAQ before you buy so you’re not arguing at the gate.
What locals should know
Training and arrivals can mean extra jet noise in the days leading up — organizers have flagged noise as early as the Monday before the show, with more formal training midweek. Headphones help if you work from home facing the ocean. Pets that hate thunder need Fourth-of-July-level planning.
Road patterns and beach access can shift for safety. Follow city and Pacific Airshow updates rather than last year’s muscle memory. And yes — we’ve lived through a year when show weekend collided with a coastal emergency. In 2021, the final day was cancelled amid the oil spill and ocean closures. Weather, military ops, and public safety always sit above the festival plan.
If you’ve been around since the “Great Pacific Airshow” days, this is the same stretch of sand with a bigger footprint. Tenth year means the event has grown up with a generation of HB kids who think jet weekends are just what October does.
