Laguna Seca visited by TruSpeed

Costa Mesa, CA – September 14, 2011
TruSpeed Motorsports, based in Costa Mesa, Calif., is expanding its professional racing efforts to include participation in the IMSA GT3 Challenge series beginning this weekend at the iconic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on California’s scenic Monterey Peninsula. In expanding its racing operations to the one-make Porsche GT3 Cup-based series, TruSpeed is preparing for a full season in IMSA GT3 Challenge in 2012.

At Laguna Seca this weekend, TruSpeed will field cars for four drivers:

Tom Haacker – #80 TruSpeed / G22 Racing Porsche GT3 Cup

Sloan Urry – #12 H2O Overdrive / TruSpeed Porsche GT3 Cup
D. Bryce Miller – #35 TruSpeed / Verve / Oakley Porsche GT3 Cup
David Hansson – #37 37Signals/TruSpeed Porsche GT3 Cup
For team owner Rob Morgan, the expansion into IMSA GT3 Cup is a natural progression. “We’ve put a huge amount of effort into re-organizing our professional racing division this season, and I’m happy to say we’re both well-equipped and having success because of it. It’s been very gratifying to watch Tom, Sloan and Bryce develop as drivers and prepare to progress up the sportscar racing ladder this season. We’ve run all three of them in the Pirelli Driver’s Cup, and the time is right for each of them to make the jump to the next competitive level.”
He continued, “We’re excited to have David Hansson with the team this weekend too. He comes highly rated and has been driving all sorts of cars this year, accruing as much seat time and experience as he can. He’s got the right attitude – listening and learning all the time, and we’re excited to see what he can do.”
For Team Manager Tyler Tadevic, expansion means an increased workload but also a sense of pride. “It’s refreshing to be headed to Laguna Seca with a new challenge to take on. As we’ve seen Tom, Sloan and Bryce learn race craft and improve as drivers, the team has been similarly challenged. Campaigning four cars in the IMSA GT3 Challenge series will be logistically difficult this weekend, but we’re up to it, and we’re proud to be representing Porsche as we get our feet wet in this series. While we’re going to be heads-down this weekend, working hard, it’ll be good to pop up, look around and realize that our ladder system at TruSpeed is working. We’re excited to hit the track this weekend.”
