Disneyland Annual Passes – The Real Deal

Disneyland Annual Passes are getting to be like Drivers Licenses, Real Estate Licenses and SAG cards, It seams like everyone in Southern California has one.  The big difference is that a visit to Disneyland makes you think everyone is actually using their Disneyland Annual Pass.

Disney tried to remedy some of that problem this year with 50% hikes across the board.  The idea being that it would reduce traffic in the parks and make the experience more Disney like.

Some time ago,  rumor had it that the Disneyland Executives didn’t want the park to be a bargain “baby sitting service”.  The fact is for $350 a year you could have your kid hang out at Disneyland every day after school.  That is a pretty cheap deal on baby sitting.  One thought was that no one under 16 could enter the park without a parent.   Another thought was to raise prices.

In 2013, an age limit was set.  No kids under 14 without an adult.  I don’t know about you, but how do you enforce that?

This year, up to 50% hikes on all the passes.  A Premier Passport will set you back a cool $1439 per person.  Even with the 0% financing this isn’t a cheap membership.  Our local Yacht club is only $899 a year for the entire family, and you can get beer or wine there for only $3.

So here is the breakdown of the new passes as of 12/5/2015 from the Disney pass website –

*Passes do not guarantee admission, if the park fills up, you don’t get in.

Walt Disney World Passes are less Expensive, probably because it costs more to get there, and there is more competition nearby.

The Premier Passport isn’t listed and you can only buy it at one of three places:

Disneyland Resort Ticket Windows
Disney World Resort Guest Relations windows
River Springs Resort at Disney World

The Premier Passport isn’t Club 33, but it will get you in to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World for an entire year with Free Parking, Free Magic Band and the best discounts.  If you are a Southern California Resident, the way to get the Premier Passport is to buy the Signature Plus Passport and then Upgrade to the Premier Passport so you can take advantage of the 0% payment plan because free money is free money.

If you buy your Premier Passport in SoCal you will have to call to get a Magic Band sent to you.  Don’t go to Walt Disney World and expect to get it there unless you want to shell out $20.

The Premier Passport will set you back nearly $1500 after taxes, but for real Disney fans, is there really another option until you get your letter from Club 33?
