Marina Spooktacular: Halloween by the Harbor — Saturday and Sunday October 24–25, 4–10 p.m., Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey. Free; the online RSVP/waiver speeds up entry. Kid zone with face painting and crafts 4–8 p.m., a 5 p.m. kids’ show, a 7:15 p.m. stage show, and a blackout maze for the brave. No alcohol. County lots run $5–$10. beaches.lacounty.gov.
Belmont Shore Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest — Saturday October 24, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., 2nd Street, Belmont Shore, Long Beach. Free to watch the street turn into a gallery; awards at 4:10 p.m. belmontshore.org.

Ghosts of the Miles — Miles Memorial Playhouse, 1130 Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica. The Historical Haunt runs Friday and Saturday October 23–24 with timed entries from 6 to 9:45 p.m., $15, recommended for ages 16 and up.
