Is Now The Time To Buy Your First House?

Obviously as a real estate agent, you expect me to say yes go buy your first house.  Before you tune out, lets use my “follow the money” and “be careful who you listen too” rules and think about this.  If I am not your agent, and I don’t get a commission on the deal, why do I care?  In fact as an investor who prefers to buy and hold property, not flip it, isn’t it better for me if people rent?

Since I was 9 years old, I was fascinated with Real Estate and the amount of money that can be made in the industry.  As a renter, I couldn’t stand the thought of paying a higher rent each year.  Buying a house just makes sense if you aren’t planning on moving in 3 years or less.

As prices are marching back toward the peak of 2007, history indicates they will march right past those prices and keep going.  If you buy now, your payment is locked.  No more rent increases.  You might get some Tax increases, and as a homeowner, I hope you learn to follow the money, vote no on tax increases, and hold your representatives accountable for the money they already get and spend.

If you have never bought a house, I know it can be a very intimidating process.  Don’t worry, I’ll be here to help you with everything you need to know and a few tips most agents and lenders don’t want you to know.  I am working on a book to make it very easy, and in the mean time, I will be posting tips, trends and tools here on Beach Street News.  Look for a new Podcast and Web Video series that we are going to launch in January.
