New Orleans Secret For The Best Beignets and No Line!

New Orleans, LA – The Big Easy is back and almost as busy as ever.  You can still see damage leftover from Katrina, but most of the French Quarter is back in business.  Sadly some of the names have become a little more “commercial” and a little less authentic.

Bourbon Street is a little like a trip through the Smokey Mountains, instead of Helicopter rides, go-carts and candy every 5 miles, its a daiquiri bar, Hustler club and Willies Chicken Shack every other block.  The best part is the music is back and so is the art at Jackson Square.

A walk down Bourbon street and you can still find good Jazz, Rock, Zydeco and even a little soulful country music.  Lafitte’s Blacksmith shop is still there and busier than ever and so is the original coffee shop and hangover cure place, Cafe Du Monde.

The Other Guys Beignets
Not Quite CDM Beignets.

After testing out a couple of different places for Beignets in the morning, I realized no one beats the Cafe Du Monde or Ralph Brennans Jazz Kitchen at Downtown Disney in California.  The secret in New Orleans is that there is a Cafe Du Monde inside the old Jackson Brewery outlet stores in the food court and they have waterfront seating with no line.

I am not saying that you should go to NOLA and spend your day at the outlet stores, but if you want to save thirty minutes to an hour of standing in line, or don’t want to deal with Disney Security to get your Beignet fix, this is how to get your Beignets.
