Labor Day 2011 at Beach Street SoCal

This labor day, even a few Wall Streeters are going to make it to Beach Street.  For those that made it to Southern California’s beach cities last night was a rare treat.  A stunning sunset with a cloudy sky and a little rain during the evening.  So get out the parades, Festivals, fairs or just head straight to the beach.
Looking north to Long Beach from the Beach Street News Office, there was a little lightning too.  All of the trubulent weather last night should lead to another stunning day on the Beach Streets of Southern California.  Even though many people have the day off, here at Beach Street News we are here at work along with the hundreds of thousands of people who work the press along with retail, law enforcement, fire, military, the airlines and a host of other service jobs.   Every place you do go today, spend a little extra time to thank the people that came to work on this Labor Day.

The US Department of Labor website tells us the Labor Day Holiday was passed into law in 1894.  It says the labor day holiday :
The form that the observance and celebration of Labor Day should take were outlined in the first proposal of the holiday — a street parade to exhibit to the public “the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations” of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of the workers and their families.
Today labor day has a little different meaning to people across the country.  Here at Beach Street we know that we couldn’t be anywhere without our team, and even more so on a holiday.  To everyone at Beach Street News and it’s parent company, Thank You for everything you do.
