Huntington Beach CA July 26th 5:51 PM – Fire Crews Respond to Bolsa Chica Wetlands Fire
Local Residents in the Brightwater development normally have a view of birds, and wild life with the Pacific Coast Highway and the ocean in the background. Today they had a yard full of smoke and for a short while a fear of losing their homes. Not something you expect in Huntington Beach.
Fire Crews from surrounding areas quickly set up a boarder and started working on the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Fire. The crews brought in water as neighbors gathered to watch. Warner Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway are both currently backed up. This fire is just across from the Bolsa Chica State Beach.
The cause of the fire is unknown. The general consensus is that it is either, a careless cigarette in high winds, an ember that jumped the highway from the fire pits or arson. There is a possibility of other causes of course and hopefully the fire investigators will find an answer.
No matter what the cause, hundreds of animals have lost their wildlife refuge. Local residents and wildlife photographers have lost their playground.
This video is shot by CoolToys TV Host Scott Bourquin who lives in the area. Thanks to the Orange County Fire Helicopter the threat to homes appears to be over and the fire is still burning.
